The DAC161P997 is a 16-bit andDelta; digital-to-analogandnbsp;converter(DAC)for transmitting an analog outputandnbsp;current over an industry standard 4-20 mA currentandnbsp;loop.lt offers 16-bit accuracy with a low outputandnbsp;current temperature coefficient(29ppm/C)andandnbsp;excellent long-term output current drift (90 ppmFS)andnbsp;while consuming less than 190 andmu;A.

The data link to the DAC161P997 is a Single Wireandnbsp;Interface(SWF)which allows sensor data to beandnbsp;transferred in digital format over an isolationandnbsp;boundary usingja single isolation component. Theandnbsp;DAC161P997and#39;S;digital input is compatible withandnbsp;standard isolation transformers and opto-couplers.andnbsp;Error detection and handshaking features within theandnbsp;SWF protocolensure error free communicationandnbsp;across the isolation boundary. For applications whereandnbsp;isolation is not required, the DAC161P997 interfacesandnbsp;directly to a microcontroller.

The loop drive of the DAC161P997 interfaces to aandnbsp;HART(Highway Addressable Remote Transducer)andnbsp;modulator, allowing injection of FSK modulated digitalandnbsp;data into the 4-20 mA current loop. This combinationandnbsp;of specifications andfeatures makes theandnbsp;DAC161P997idealfor2-and4-wire industrialandnbsp;transmitters.
